Trevor looked out into the darkness,“BOO,” went Bert. “AAAAGH,” what was that shouted Trevor,
“It’s only me.” said Bert.
“There’s nothing out there except a few rabbits and stars, look up there, there’s the Great Bear”.
“A BEAR.” shouted Trevor. “Where’s a bear, turn that light on.”
“Not out there,” said Bert “Up There.”
“What, a flying bear”, said Trevor shaking, “Turn that light on, oh, I don’t feel well.”
“Good heavens.” said Bert. “Not a flying bear.”
“You just said there was a flying bear out there. Oh, dear what am I doing here? Look at me, I’m all dirty and scratched. It’s pitch black and all I’ve got to protect me from a great flying bear, is a rusty old bulldozer who’s completely raving mad. Oooh, I don’t feel well turn that light on.”
Bert gave up trying to explain about the stars,
“Try and go to sleep and I’ll explain all in the morning.” said Bert
“I’ll try,” said Trevor.
“And stop calling me Trev.”

Trevor the Tractor, written by Glyn Davies, is a delightful and engaging story. The main characters are Trevor the Tractor and Bert the Bulldozer. Trevor is taken from the showroom to a farm without being asked, which marks the beginning of his adventure.
Upon arriving at the farm, Sam asks Trevor to help him reach the bottom meadow to repair a flood bank before it rains again. Although Trevor agrees to go, he refuses to enter the muddy field because he doesn’t want to get his shiny new tyres dirty. As a result, Sam turns to Bert for assistance.
Will Trevor eventually warm up to Bert and embrace his new surroundings? Read the story to find out!
I really enjoyed Trevor’s antics—being a brand-new tractor, I could relate to his reluctance to get dirty, as I too don’t like my new things getting messy! Bert’s character is heartwarming, especially in how he welcomes Trevor to the farm. This story gently teaches children the value of stepping out of their comfort zone and building new friendships.
